2 more die of COVID-19, bringing Cambodia's death toll to 16

PHNOM PENH, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Thursday confirmed two more deaths from the COVID-19, raising the total number of deaths in the country to 16, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

A 70-year-old Cambodian woman died early Thursday, the statement said, adding that she was confirmed to have the virus on March 25, and had a history of hypertension and diabetes.

The other victim was a 67-year-old Cambodian woman who succumbed to the disease on Thursday morning, it said, adding that she was confirmed to have the virus on March 23.

According to the statement, the two women died at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in capital Phnom Penh despite having been put on ventilators.

The kingdom has so far registered a total of 2,477 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 16 deaths and 1,240 recoveries.

The Southeast Asia country launched a vaccination drive on Feb. 10. As of Wednesday, more than 407,000 people had been vaccinated against the virus, a government report showed. Enditem
