Kunqu performer Wang Yueli, now a Kunqu Opera teacher of Suzhou Art School, has sparked a revival of Kunqu Opera in her hometown of Suzhou. Originated in China's late Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Kunqu dominated the Chinese theater in the 16th-18th centuries and it was regarded as the "mother" of all other operas including the famous Peking Opera. Kunqu was listed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritages of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2001. (Xinhua/Yang Lei)
