Xinhua editor-in-chief meets RT managing director, IANS president

BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Editor-in-chief of Xinhua News Agency, He Ping, met with managing director of Russia Today (RT) Alexey Nikolov and president and CEO of Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) Mahesh Daga, here on Tuesday respectively.

Nikolov and Daga are in Beijing to attend the BRICS Media Forum, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

He said the forum aims to consolidate the cooperation platform for media organizations of BRICS countries, namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and create sound media environment for the Ninth BRICS Summit in September in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

He voiced his hope the forum would facilitate closer cooperation, strengthen voices of BRICS and emerging economies, and promote the building of more just and reasonable world media order.

Nikolov said RT expects to enhance cooperation with Xinhua, and share experience in improving their global communication capabilities.

Daga said the IANS hopes to share experience with Xinhua to jointly address challenges brought about by changes in the media.
