BEIJING, Aug.1 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palace Museum has strengthened cooperations with foreign museums by bringing in excellent exhibitions and promoting exhibitions to the world, said Shan Jixiang, curator of the Palace Museum, during a lecture held at Xinhuanet recently.

"Now, we have more than 20 exhibitions go out of the Palace Museum every year and have got ideal effect," Shan said.

"The Palace Museum held Venice Biennale Parallel Exhibition two months ago. We set up a foreign cultural heritage museum so that our exhibitions can be seen around the world," he added.

Aside from exhibitions, the museum engages in educational and promotional activities.

"We have developed a project called 'the lecture hall of the Forbidden City' and actively carried out international education and communication, "Shan said.

Over the past years, the Palace Museum has held more exhibitions and opened more galleries to promote cultural exchanges and global connectivity.

With unique features of traditional Chinese architecture, the Yanchi Lou at the imposing Meridian Gate of the museum can hold large-scale cultural relics exhibitions.

During the International Museum Forum last year in Beijing, many curators and experts expressed the hope to hold their exhibitions in the Yanchi Lou.

Thus, the schedule of exhibitions in 2019 in the Palace Museum is full now.

The Palace Museum houses over 1.86 million antiques and artifacts. The complex's architecture and imperial collections make it one of the most prestigious museums in the world.
