BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Themed "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World," the 48th World Economic Forum (WEP) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, is urging concerted global efforts to address major challenges from protectionism, terrorism and climate change.

The four-day gathering of policymakers and economists from around the world will see more than 400 workshops to seek consensus and collaboration on "a shared future", a vision converging with the China-proposed concept of "a community of shared future for mankind".

The 2018 WEF theme revives the memory of a Chinese head of state's first participation when President Xi Jinping attended it last year and put forward the concept of "a community of shared future for mankind."

This is a vision Xi has elaborated before, during and after his Davos speech. The following are some of those occasions:

-- Sept. 28, 2015, Speech at the General Debate of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly

As the United Nations enters a new decade, let us unite ever more closely to create a new mutually beneficial partnership and community of shared future for mankind. Let the vision of a world free of war and enjoying lasting peace take root in our hearts. Let the aspirations of development, prosperity, fairness and justice spread across the world!

-- Sept. 3, 2016, Keynote Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the B20 Summit

We need to seek common ground while shelving and narrowing differences in an effort to build a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation. All countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, must treat each other as equals. We need to help each other achieve sound development as we work to ensure our own development. The world will be a better place only when everyone is better off.

China's opening-up drive is not a one-man show. Rather, it is an invitation open to all. It is a pursuit not to establish China's own sphere of influence, but to support common development of all countries. It is meant to build not China's own backyard garden, but a garden shared by all countries.

-- Jan.17, 2017, Keynote Speech at the Opening Session of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting

Whether you like it or not, the global economy is the big ocean that you cannot escape from. Any attempt to cut off the flow of capital, technologies, products, industries and people between economies, and channel the waters in the ocean back into isolated lakes and creeks is simply not possible. Indeed, it runs counter to the historical trend.

Today, mankind has become a close-knit community of shared future. Countries have extensive converging interests and are mutually dependent. All countries enjoy the right to development. At the same time, they should view their own interests in a broader context and refrain from pursuing them at the expense of others.

We should commit ourselves to growing an open global economy to share opportunities and interests through opening up and achieve win-win outcomes.

We must redouble efforts to develop global connectivity to enable all countries to achieve inter-connected growth and share prosperity. We must remain committed to developing global free trade and investment, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation through opening up, and say no to protectionism.

-- Jan.18, 2017, Speech at the United Nations Office in Geneva

Pass on the torch of peace from generation to generation, sustain development and make civilization flourish: this is what people of all countries long for; it is also the responsibility statesmen of our generation ought to shoulder. And China' s proposition is: build a community of shared future for mankind and achieve shared and win-win development.

We should advance democracy in international relations and reject dominance by just one or several countries. All countries should jointly shape the future of the world, write international rules, manage global affairs and ensure that development outcomes are shared by all.

-- Sept.3, 2017, Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum

Our world today is becoming increasingly multipolar; the economy has become globalized; there is growing cultural diversity; and the society has become digitized. The law of the jungle where the strong prey on the weak and the zero-sum game are rejected, and peace, development and win-win cooperation have become the shared aspiration of all peoples.

-- Oct.18, 2017, Report at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

We call on the people of all countries to work together to build a community of with a shared future for mankind, to build an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity.

The future of the world rests in the hands of the people of all countries; the future of mankind hinges on the choices they make. We, the Chinese, are ready to work with the people of all other countries to build a community of shared future for mankind and create a bright tomorrow for all of us.

-- Nov.11, 2017, Speech at APEC CEO Summit

We should uphold multilateralism, pursue shared growth through consultation and collaboration, forge closer partnerships, and build a community of shared future for mankind.
