The Chinese people set out into the world as foreigners come to China

Fueling the trend of "upgraded consumption" are people's ever-growing cultural and material needs. In recent years, taxi drivers are picking up more and more passengers headed for Terminals T2 and T3 of Beijing Capital International Airport, bearing witness to the craze of Chinese people traveling abroad. At the same time, another group has also attracted their attention.

"Some foreigners speak Chinese even more fluently than some of us," Wang Jiansheng says as he recalls past experiences and speaks excitedly about the foreign passengers whom he has driven. "One experience that left a deep impression on me was when I drove a long-haired young man from England a few years ago. I spoke in English and he spoke in fluent Chinese, and we spoke like this for the entire ride." Today, Mr. Wang and the British man still keep in touch.

"In previous years, most foreigners who I picked up could only say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Chinese. Now, a lot of people can speak Chinese fluently and they are familiar with the routes." Wang Jiansheng says that this is probably due to the large number of foreigners who have come to China to study, work and live in recent years. "This attests to the fact that China is becoming increasingly inclusive and that the world is also accepting China."
