MINSK, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Belarus extended the visa-free entry period to 30 days, the presidential press service said Tuesday.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed the corresponding decree on Tuesday extending the visa-free entry period to 30 days provided foreign nationals cross the border at the Minsk National Airport, the press service said.

Foreigners need to have a passport, medical insurance policy and at least 2 basic units (1 unit is 12.25 U.S. dollars) for each day of stay for visa-free entry to Belarus.

Foreign citizens planning to stay in Belarus for more than five working days will have to register with the internal affairs bodies at their place of stay in the country.

With regard to Chinese citizens, this visa-free entry procedure will be applied until August 10, 2018, when a bilateral agreement on mutual visa-free regime for holders of ordinary passports will enter into force.

From February 12, 2017, citizens of 80 countries could stay in Belarus without visas for five days.
