PHNOM PENH, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Monday told sea travelers and fishermen to be extra-vigilant as the country is forecast to suffer from the impact of Tropical Storm Bebinca on Aug. 17-18.

The storm, originating from the south of China, is expected to hit northern Vietnam's coastal provinces on Thursday, said a Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology statement.

The statement said after the storm dies down, a depression will occur and brew over the Mekong River basin in neighboring Thailand and Laos.

With the impact of the storm and the depression, there will be heavy rain with strong wind and high waves at coasts, especially in the Cambodian provinces of Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong, it said, adding that there will also be heavy rainfall in the Mekong River basin in the country's part.

"The Ministry would like to inform the public, particularly fishermen and travelers by sea, to be extra-vigilant in order to avoid any possible dangers," Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, said in the statement.
