NEW DELHI, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and five others critically injured in a bomb blast at the regional Trinamool Congress party's office in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal on Thursday, police said.

The blast took place at the state's ruling party's office at Makrampur in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.

"Initial probe suggests it was a crude bomb explosion in the party office. While one person died on the spot, those injured have been admitted to a local hospital, where their condition is said to be critical," a police official said.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.

Trinamool Congress party is the state's ruling party led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. However, the party has not yet commented on the explosion at its office.
