Namibia beefs up technical department, unveils 25-man squad for Africa Cup qualifier against Zambia

WINDHOEK, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's football head coach Ricardo Mannetti has announced his 25-man squad ahead of the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup (AFCON) qualifier tie against Zambia here on September 8.

At a media briefing on Wednesday, Mannetti also announced that former Namibia midfielder Collin Benjamin has joined the team's technical committee.

According to Mannetti, the committee will analyze the game time that players that have had at their respective clubs, as he is concerned about the conditioning and match-fitness of the players ahead of the Zambia clash.

"We will eventually trim the squad to 18 as we will blend players we had at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) competition and previous AFCON qualifiers," Mannetti added.

Mozambique currently lead Group K with three points, with Guinea also on three in second place, while Namibia and Zambia prop up the group on zero points after losing their respective opening games.
