NEW DELHI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday said he will visit Nepal to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit.

Modi will be travelling to the neighbouring country on Thursday on a two-day visit.

"I will be in Kathmandu on 30th and 31st August to take part in the fourth BIMSTEC Summit," Modi in a statement said. "The summit focuses on the theme -- Towards a Peaceful, Prosperous and Sustainable Bay of Bengal Region."

Modi would be interacting with various world leaders during the summit and holding interactions with the leaders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

This will be Modi's fourth visit to the country ever since he took over as prime minister of India.

"I look forward to meeting PM KP Sharma Oli and reviewing the progress we have made in India-Nepal bilateral relations," Modi said.

BIMSTEC is a regional organisation comprising seven countries -- Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand, which lie in the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal.
