TRIPOLI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Adviser of Philippine President Abdullah Mamao on Wednesday confirmed that the Philippines is willing to provide Libyan hospitals with medical teams.

Mamao made his remarks during a meeting with Libyan UN-backed Prime Minister Fayez Serraj, in the Libyan capital Tripoli, where the two officials discussed issues of mutual concern.

Serraj stressed importance of the relations between the two countries, expressing hope for further cooperation in health, education and infrastructure, said a statement issued by the prime minister's information office.

More than half of the medical staff in the Libyan hospitals are from the Philippines. However, many medical workers from the Philippines left Libya following the 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Gaddafi's regime, due to insecurity and chaos in the country.
