ULAN BATOR, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The number of the registered unemployed in Mongolia stood at 23,100 in the first eight months of this year, down 8.8 percent compared with the same period last year, data released by the National Statistical Office showed Thursday.
The unemployed figure records 2,200 people fewer than that in the first eight months last year but it was 2.4 percentage points higher month on month, the data showed.
Among a national population of just over 3 million, more than half of the jobless people or 52.9 percent are female. In addition, 57.5 percent of the unemployed are people aged 15-34.
During the first eight months of this year, only 12,600 people out of the total number of registered unemployed got a new job through intermediaries.
Currently, the median salary for a full-time job in Mongolia is 725,100 Mongolian Tugriks or 292 U.S. dollars, according to the office.
