YANGON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's foreign trade using Individual Trading Cards (ITC) via border gate reached 17 billion kyats (10.9 million U.S. dollars) as of August during the six-month transitional period which started in April this year, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Friday.

The country has changed its fiscal year period from original April-March to Oct-Sept beginning 2018-2019, producing a six-month transitional gap.

As of Aug. 31, the country's export value through border gates hit 4.2 billion kyats (2.7 million U.S. dollars) while its import shared 13 billion kyats (8.4 million U.S. dollars).

During the period, Myawady border gate topped the lists of using ITCs with the trade value of over 10 billion kyats (6.5 million U.S. dollars).

The country's trade value with ITCs totaled 45.9 billion kyats (33 million U.S. dollars) in last fiscal year 2017-2018, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry.

The commerce ministry has issued a total of 1,493 ITCs so far since FY 2012-2013.

At present, the country is conducting border trade with China, Thailand, Bangladesh and India.
