LAGOS, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's central state of Nasarawa on Friday said it had concluded arrangement to fly some victims of a gas station explosion to South Africa for further treatment.
Governor Umaru Al-Makura made this known in Lafia, the state capital, saying 11 out of the 36 victims of the explosion had died and eight others are in critical condition.
Most of the victims are being treated at the National Trauma Center in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, he said.
The government is committed to ensuring that they got the best medical attention, the governor added.
A gas station in Lafia was on Monday engulfed in fire when a tanker offloading liquefied petroleum gas had a leakage and went up in flames.
Dogara Dalhatu, chief fire officer of the Nasarawa State Fire Service, attributed the fire to a spark nearby.
Many vehicles, including motorcycles and tricycles, were destroyed in the fire.
