LUSAKA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish airline on Friday announced that it will launch weekly flights to Zambia's capital at the end of this year, local media reported.

When meeting with Joseph Chilengi, Zambia's ambassador to Turkey, the airline's chief executive officer Bilal Eksi said the company will commence two weekly flights between Istanbul and Lusaka on Dec. 13, according to the Lusaka Times.

The Turkish flag carrier will service the Lusaka route via Dar es Salaam in Tanzania with flight arrivals on Mondays and Thursdays while departures from Lusaka will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Eksi said his company will sign agreements with other airlines operating on the Lusaka-Dar es Salaam route to push forward air transport cooperation.

For his part, the Zambian envoy said it would boost investment and trade relations between the two countries.
