BANGKOK, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The body of a two-year-old girl was found and seven remain missing after a landslide hit a refugee camp in northern Thailand's border province Mae Hong Son on Sunday, media reported on Monday.

Rescuers found the body of the girl buried under mud in a refugee camp in the area bordering Myanmar, reports said.

A provincial official said rangers and volunteers are searching for the seven missing, including four men and three women. He confirmed that 16 people were injured and sent to hospital.

The official said torrential rains brought mud and rocks into the camp.

According to the media, the camp site is by the Yuman River.

Heavy rains are expected in northern and northeastern Thailand this week as Typhoon Mangkhut smashed throughout southern China and moved west.

The meteorological department has issued a warning of more floods, landslides in most parts of the country.
