JAKARTA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has recruited a total of 7,500 volunteers for the forthcoming Asian Para Games, the organizing committee disclosed here on Monday.
The volunteers are students, professionals and also those with disabilities, said Rezza D. Brammadita, senior official at the Asian Para Games Organizing Committee.
"They [the volunteers] have been trained in effective communication, interpersonal skills, etiquette and the way to interact with those with disabilities," he said.
A total of 2,800 athletes and 1,800 officials from 41 nations and regions will participate in the Asian Para Games in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta from October 6-13.
The athletes with disabilities will compete in 18 sports, among them badminton, basketball, table tennis, swimming, chess, cycling and fencing.
