KIEV, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least seven police officers were injured in clashes with protesters here on Monday, the National Police of Ukraine said in a statement.
The clashes occurred when a group of demonstrators tried to break into the building of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, which was guarded by the police, the statement said.
It said the protesters pelted stones at the law enforcement officers and used tear gas against them.
The police have started a criminal investigation into the incident.
Earlier in the day, local media reported that protesters from several nationalist movements rallied outside the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, protesting a decision by the authorities to extradite a Russian citizen wanted by Moscow as a suspected Islamic State fighter and demanding the resignation of Deputy Prosecutor General Eugene Enin, who had permitted the extradition.
