HANOI, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The border guard force of Vietnam's central Quang Tri province said on Tuesday that they detained two Lao men who engaged in cross-border transport of 200,000 pills of synthetic drug.

The duo aged 34 and 42 were arrested on Monday when transporting the drug in a pickup truck in the Vietnam-Laos border area.

According to Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
