NEW DELHI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- An army personnel who is accused of raping a college student in India's northern state Haryana's Rewari district was arrested on Sunday, after nearly 11 days.
Identified as Pankaj, the army man is said to be posted in the Indian Army in state of Rajasthan.
Another co-accused in the rape case was also arrested. Both were nabbed from the state's Mahendragarh district, confirmed a police cop who was part of the team who arrested the duo.
One co-accused is already under police custody.
On Sept. 11, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by the trio while she was on her way to her coaching classes.
She was taken to a room in an agricultural field, drugged and gang-raped. The woman knew the three accused, as they are said to be hailing from her village.
The rape case shocked the entire nation, even as it attracted media headlines over the past nearly two weeks, and also because of the involvement of a defence personnel.
