MADRID, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish economy will grow by 2.6 percent this year, less than the previous forecast in June, according to a Bank of Spain report published on Tuesday.

In its Quarterly Report on the Spanish Economy, the Bank of Spain revised down its 2018 economic forecasts from 2.7 percent GDP growth to 2.6 percent.

According to the bank, the new predictions are mainly the result of "the worsening of the outlook regarding the evolution of foreign markets".

These factors might have an impact on growth for next year and 2020: the country's economy is expected to grow by 2.2 percent and 2 percent respectively in those years, down from the previous forecasts of 2.4 percent and 2.1 percent predicted by the bank in June.

Thus the bank said that the Spanish economy will continue to grow, however "at a lower rate than in recent years."

GDP growth, said the institution, "will continue to lie on domestic demand", while net external demand would contribute to the growth to a lesser extent.
