Uganda hopes to see more tangbile results of win-win cooperation with China: VP

KAMPALA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's Vice President Edward Ssekandi said Tuesday that Uganda hopes to see more tangbile results of win-win cooperation with China.

Speaking at a Chinese National Day reception, Ssekandi said Uganda appreciates the role China is playing in its development, including road construction, hydropower plant constructions, among others.

He said Uganda looks forward to evolving more people-to-people programs between Chinese and Ugandans in tourism and sports.

"In the spirit of the Beijing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Declaration, we wish to see more tangible results of China-Africa win-win cooperation and common development realized in Uganda," he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuqiang said China has always considered Uganda a key cooperation partner in Africa.

He said the development strategies of both countries are compatible and present each other with important opportunities.

"China is working hard to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Uganda has reached a take-off point with the best chance unprecedented in the last 500 years," he said.

He said under the Belt and Road Initiative, China hopes to create new drivers to power common development.

"China will work together with Uganda to form synergy between our two economies, enhance policy coordination and deepen mutual beneficial and practical cooperation, with a view to realizing joint development and common prosperity for both China and Uganda," said the ambassador.
