DHAKA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Bangladeshi US-Bangla Airlines plane on a domestic flight with 171 passengers and crew on board made an emergency landing on Wednesday with no one hurt, the airline's spokesman said.

Kamrul Islam, general manager of US-Bangla Airlines, told Xinhua that the plane took off from the capital of Dhaka at 11:30 a.m. local time Wednesday for sea-beach town Cox's Bazaar, some 292 km southeast of Dhaka.

It flew to the seaport city Chittagong, 242 km southeast of capital Dhaka, and made an emergency landing there at Shah Amanat International Airport at about 1:10 p.m. local time.

He could not tell immediately the exact reason for emergency landing.

But an airport official who did not like to be named told Xinhua that the aircraft landed with a malfunctioning front wheel.

"So far we came to know that the plane's front wheel closed during the landing at Cox's Bazar. So, it flew back to Chittagong for an emergency landing safely," he said.

According to the official, the malfunctioning front wheel caused the aircraft's nose to hit the runway at Shah Amanat International Airport.

TV footage also showed the plane in a nose-dived condition on the runway.

Islam, however, claimed that the plane made the emergency landing with all passengers and crew onboard safe. He said the flight BS141 was carrying 164 passengers and seven crew members.

In March, a plane of the Bangladeshi US-Bangla Airlines crashed during landing in the Nepali capital of Kathmandu, leaving at least 51 people dead.
