ABUJA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian air force spokesperson Ibikunle Daramola confirmed that two military aircraft collided on Friday in Abuja, the capital city.
"I wish to confirm that an air incident involving two Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations occurred this morning in Abuja," Daramola said in a statement on the Twitter account of the Nigerian Air Force.
A witness said earlier that heavy smoke could be seen rising from a mountain and that two pilots were spotted landing with parachutes.
