PHNOM PENH, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian National Assembly's President Samdech Heng Samrin on Friday praised the excellent ties and cooperation between Cambodia and China, a spokesman said.
The country's top legislator made the remarks during a farewell meeting here with outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo, said Keo Piseth, a spokesman for Heng Samrin.
"As this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Cambodia and China, Samdech Heng Samrin said he was very pleased to see ties and cooperation between the two countries reaching an all-time high in the history," the spokesman told reporters after the meeting.
Samrin said the two countries had enjoyed close ties and cooperation in all fields, especially in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, and tourism.
Samrin also expressed his profound thanks to the government and people of China for always providing support to Cambodia for its socio-economic development, saying that China's assistance was vital to strengthen Cambodia's sovereignty, independence, stability, security and development.
The National Assembly president also praised Xiong for his active contributions to further promoting Cambodia-China relations during his tenure.
For his part, Xiong thanked Samrin and National Assembly members for working closely with the Chinese Embassy here, which led to the successful completion of his diplomatic mission in the kingdom.
