NEW YORK, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 26th edition of the Affordable Art Fair NYC has kicked off at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, New York.

With the fall fair boasting a vast array of programming and partnerships, this edition gathers art lovers and seasoned collectors to mingle among thousands of original contemporary artworks from more than 400 artists.

Vanessa Seis, Director of Affordable Art Fair NYC, said "we are contemporary art fair, and we sell contemporary works by living artists under 10,000 dollars. It is our mission to make art more accessible for everyone."

"So far the fair is going well. We had a really strong opening yesterday, and we hope that this will continue through out the event," Vanessa Seis said.

The fall fair will also feature a broad variety of artworks that aim to inspire all tastes and budgets, including works under 1,000 U.S. dollars. In addition, visitors can explore a selection of handpicked artworks at the Under $500 Wall, for the most accessible and palpable approach to kick-starting a collection.

Karen Fitzgerald, director of JVS Project Space and participant exhibitor for 14 editions at the fair, said that the fair has always been a success for them, "because not only is it a wonderful way to put our work out to the world, but there are many interesting people that we meet."

Since its launch in 1999, the Affordable Art Fair has welcomed over 2.3 million visitors through its doors, and sold over 425 million dollars worth of art.

As a global brand and one of the leading and most popular art fairs in the world, this year 12 fairs take place in nine cities worldwide in New York, London, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Brussels, Hamburg, Milan, Singapore and Stockholm.

The Affordable Art Fair also places a strong emphasis on charitable giving and since 1999 has donated 1.9 million dollars worth of stand space and advice to emerging artists; provided 3.2 million dollars worth of art education; and has raised 1.3 million globally for local charities.

The fair started on Thursday and will run through Sunday.
