TASHKENT, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has adopted a new strategy for Uzbekistan for 2018-2023, the bank's representative office said here Sunday.

The new strategy reflects recent changes in the country's political and macroeconomic environment and is aimed at creating an open, integrated and export-driven economy.

The EBRD's operational and strategic priorities in Uzbekistan will be based on the role of the private sector, green energy and efficient use of resources, regional and international cooperation and integration.

The bank's new phase of engagement with Uzbekistan was prompted by a major reform program launched by the Uzbek government in late 2016, when the country's economic model was moving towards a more open, integrated market-oriented one.
