SINGAPORE, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.39 percent or 12.81 points to close at 3,242.65.
A total of 2.2 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 944.2 million Singapore dollars (about 686.19 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 236 to 149.
The STI index went down 0.05 percent or 1.59 points to close at 3,255.46 on Monday.
