TOKYO, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning as U.S. shares retreating overnight set a negative tone compounded by concerns over U.S.-Saudi Arabia relations.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 246.83 points, or 1.09 percent, from Thursday to 22,411.33.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 18.71 points, or 1.10 percent, at 1,685.93.

Consumer credit, marine transportation and miscellaneous-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
