TUNIS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The European Union will work with Tunisia to remove the latter from the "gray lists" of money laundering and terror financing, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Thursday.

"For the moment, we will work with Tunisian authorities to examine the reforms and measures to remove Tunisia from these gray lists," said Juncker at a joint press conference with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.

Juncker arrived in Tunisia on Thursday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Essebsi.

Though having been removed from the blacklist of countries at high risk of money laundering and financing of terrorism, Tunisia is still on the "gray lists," Juncker said.

"European Union attaches great importance to the strategic partnership with Tunisia, especially as Europe will continue to support the Tunisian transition and contribute to its prosperity, its social stability and its economic recovery," Juncker added.
