TIRANA, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Albania has sent servicemen of the Commando Battalion of the Infantry Troops to participate in the Trident Juncture 2018, a military exercise led by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Norway, local media reported Friday.
"The commandos have joined Trident Juncture 18, the NATO-led military exercise. An expected 50,000 participants from 31 nations will take part, including 10,000 vehicles, 250 aircraft and 65 vessels," declared Albanian Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, quoted by the media.
According to Xhaçka, the exercises are held in Norway and the main goals of Trident Juncture 18 are to train the NATO Response Force and to test the alliance's defense capability.
Trident Juncture 18, which started on Thursday, is held in Norway in October and November. The exercise consists of three main parts: a phase of deployment, a live field exercise from Oct. 25 to Nov. 7 and ultimately a command post exercise on Nov. 13-24.
