TOKYO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower on Friday as investors opted to secure profits after the Nikkeis near 2 percent closing high a day earlier, after early buying on the back of solid domestic corporate earnings ran its course.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 236.67 points, or 1.05 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,250.25.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.27 points or 0.49 percent, to finish at 1,672.98.
Oil and coal product, mining and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
