ULAN BATOR, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- A parliamentary faction leader of the ruling Mongolian People's Party (MPP) on Monday demanded lawmakers who allegedly obtained low-interest loans from a fund aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises be brought to justice.

"Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and Parliament Speaker Miyegombo Enkhbold have to immediately address issues surrounding the fund," Damdin Khayankhyarvaa told reporters before submitting his formal demand letter to them.

The Subcommittee on Ethics at the parliament must urgently inspect some parliament members who allegedly obtained loans from the fund by abusing their power, Khayankhyarvaa's demand letter read.

The leader of the MPP group in the parliament also asked the Budget Standing Committee to establish a working group to go through other special government funds.

Around 20 days ago, reports were made public that some members of the Mongolian parliament and their relatives obtained loans with low interest rates from the fund.

Mongolian Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister Batjargal Batzorig was dismissed from his post last week due to the scandal. The fund is an affiliate of Batzorig's ministry.

Batzorig's wife was allegedly among those who obtained loans from the fund.
