S. Korea's import price hits 4-year high on expensive crude oil

SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Price for goods imported to South Korea hit the highest in over four years on expensive crude oil, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The import price index stood at 92.06 in October, up 1.5 percent from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The reading was the highest since September 2014, keeping an upward trend for two straight months on expensive crude oil.

Dubai crude, South Korea's benchmark, averaged 79.39 U.S. dollars per barrel in October, up 2.8 percent from the prior month.

Price for imported raw materials gained 3.1 percent in October from a month ago. The import price for intermediate industrial goods, such as oil products, rose 1 percent, with those for capital and consumer goods adding 0.5 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively.

The export price index came in at 88.32 in October, up 0.5 percent from a month earlier. It was the highest since November 2014.
