JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- A military equipment supplier of the hardliner Islamic State (IS) outfit along with one of his bodyguards were killed, following an airstrike in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, said an army statement released on Tuesday.

"Abdul Khaliq nickname Omar who recently joined the IS terrorist group and served as the outfits' in charge of military commission for Hasaka Mina district, was killed along with one of his bodyguards in Angor area of the province on Sunday," the statement added.

The IS group still operates in Afghanistan and has been held accountable for numerous deadly attacks in the conflict-battered country including a suicide attack in Kabul on Monday.

The IS group has yet to make comment on the attack in Nangarhar.
