ISLAMABAD, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Three army personnel, including an officer and two soldiers, were killed and another injured in an ambush on Monday in Pakistan's northwest North Waziristan district, local media reported Tuesday.

Local Urdu TV Channel Dawn News quoted some official sources as saying that a group of militants armed with automatic weapons and rockets attacked a military convoy in the Razmak area of North Waziristan, a tribal district in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Three military personnel, including Major Irfan, died on the spot following the attack, while another soldier sustained injuries, the reports said.

Other security personnel present in the convoy repulsed the attack with retaliatory firing.

The attackers managed to run away after the ambush.

According to the report, the injured and the bodies were airlifted to the military hospital in the nearby Bannu district.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
