SYDNEY, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The snake or snakes suspected of being behind a slew of attacks on students at a primary school in Western Australia remain on the loose, with education authorities putting in place emergency measures amid growing concern about the reptile threat,local media reported on Thursday.
The school located in the south of state capital Perth had been locked down, with notes sent to parents informing them about two students being taken to hospital for "possible snake bites," following the latest incidents, according to the Nine News channel.
Multiple first-aid kits for snake bite were available on school grounds, the school which is surrounded by bushland told parents late last week.
"Emergency procedures" have been set out for "these types of incidents" due to nearby snake habitats, the Nine News channel quoted local education authorities as saying.
A snake specialist has also been deployed to "assess the area."
There have been at least two other recent incidents involving suspected snake bites, with the school locked down for some time after a teacher or staff member had found a snake, according to the channel. Parents are increasingly worried about more attacks that may result in serious injury or death going into summer in the southern hemisphere when the reptiles are active, the channel reported.
