LJUBLJANA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Slovenia will take part in the adoption of the UN Global Compact for Migration in Marrakesh, Morocco, in December, Foreign Minister Miro Cerar announced after a cabinet session on Thursday.

Cerar said, according to the national media Slovenian Press Agency STA, the compact was a political document which enabled each country to preserve full sovereignty.

Slovenian Defense Minister Karl Erjavec, who also talked to reporters after the session discussing the issue, said that the Slovenian government continued to support the agreement and that the country would join the deal without reservations.

The government discussed the position on the matter even though Slovenia had already supported the deal under the previous cabinet led by Cerar.

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration sets out 23 goals. It is the first international agreement to cover all dimensions of international migration in a comprehensive manner.

Several countries, including the United States, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, have rejected the pact.
