YANGON, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's special sale of raw gems and utility jade in local currency Kyat ended in Nay Pyi Taw late Saturday, with a total proceeds of 49.093 billion kyats ( 32.72 million U.S. dollars), Myanmar News Agency reported Sunday.
Out of 96 lots of raw gem stones and 3,339 lots of jade stones displayed for sale under a competitive bidding system in the six-day event, 50 lots of raw gems and 3,185 lots of jade were sold.
The event, which targeted merchants with small capital investment, was attended by about 1,500 local business people.
The special sale was organized by the Myanmar Gems Emporium Central Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
