TOKYO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher in choppy trade on Thursday as investors sought out issues oversold recently and bought them back on dips ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 139.01 points, or 0.65 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,646.55.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 13.07 points, or 0.81 percent, to finish at 1,628.96.
Farm and fishery, land transportation, and food-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most by the close of play.
