TRIPOLI, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed Prime Minister, Fayez Serraj, on Sunday issued a decision to transform two large military camps in the capital Tripoli into health and education facilities.

According to the PM's information office, Serraj gave orders to evacuate the camps within 72 hours and be handed over to the state-owned Economic and Social Development Fund.

The two camps are located in southern Tripoli, which in August witnessed violent clashes between forces allied with the government and other armed groups, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians.

"We must take advantage of the vast area of the camps and build civilian facilities that benefit the people in vital areas such as health and education," Serraj said during a tour inside the camps.

Serraj stressed all the other camps in the city will also be turned into civilians facilities as well, and be handed over to the Economic and Social Development Fund.

The Economic and Social Development Fund was established in 2006 in order to finance strategic economic projects, such as tourism, real estate, industry, and oil.
