Tokyo stocks advance in morning as Osaka selected to host Expo 2025

TOKYO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning after Osaka being selected to host the World Expo 2025 lifted service sector and construction issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 169.00 points, or 0.78 percent, from Thursday to 21,815.55.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile rose 4.54 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,633.50.

Pulp and paper, rubber product, and warehousing and harbor transportation service-linked issues led gainers by the morning break.

Markets here were closed Friday for a national holiday.
