NEW YORK, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. experts are to discuss at a forum here on Tuesday the potential enormous opportunities arising from China's rapid march toward a low-carbon economy.

The experts will share their insights on China's challenges and how business can profit from the battle China has launched on its environmental problems at the forum themed "Business and the Greening of China," which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the China Institute in downtown New York City.

Among the speakers are Barbara Finamore, author of a new book, Will China Save the Planet?, and founder of the China Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, and Damien Ma, a renewable energy expert and associate director of the Paulson Institute's Think Tank,

After years of breakneck development, China has turned to environmental clean-up, with ambitious plans to reduce carbon emissions and new environmental standards for its corporate players in a bid to build a new, greener economy.

The move is creating entire new markets, in renewable energy, transportation, forestry, water management, and other sectors. By 2020, the country plans to invest 2.5 trillion yuan (about 370 billion U.S. dollars) in renewable energy alone, according to China's National Energy Administration.
