ISTANBUL, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Three irregular migrants were found frozen to death in separate border villages in Turkey's northwestern province of Edirne on Tuesday, local media reported.

Turkish gendarmerie forces first found the body of an Afghan national near the Serem village on a tip from a shepherd, the state-run Anadolu Agency said.

Turkish soldiers on patrol later discovered two other bodies, also believed to be irregular migrants, in an irrigation pond in the village of Akcadam and in a military forbidden zone in the Adasarhanli village respectively, the agency noted.

Irregular migrants have started to use border villages in Edirne to sneak into Greece after Turkey moved to curb the flow of illegal migration via the Aegean Sea under a deal signed with the European Union in March 2016.
