Laos, Cambodia agree to deepen ties, resolve border dispute

VIENTIANE, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen have agreed to work together to deepen bilateral ties and resolve border disputes between the two neighbors.

Hun Sen arrived in the Lao capital of Vientiane on Wednesday for a two-day visit in response to the invitation of the Lao prime minister.

According to Lao News Agency (KPL), at the bilateral meeting, Thongloun highly valued the visit of Hun Sen and his delegation as a significant contribution to enhancing relationship and cooperation between the two countries in all areas.

The two prime ministers also presided over the signing ceremony of documents on education, cultural and art cooperation, among others, KPL said.

Local daily Vientiane Times on Thursday reported that at the press conference shortly after the bilateral talks, Thongloun said both sides reaffirmed their intention to enhance the long-standing friendly relations, cooperation and solidarity between the two countries in the spirit of mutual respect and interests.

According to the daily, the two prime ministers reached consensus on joint efforts to realize agreement on ways to solve border disputes.
