Judoka Ceric wins BiH best female athlete 2018 award

SARAJEVO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Judoka Larisa Ceric was voted as the best female athlete in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for 2018 by the country's Olympic Committee here on Thursday evening.

Larisa, had won the "Athlete of 2017" award, continued to shine this year with a bronze at the world championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, a silver at the European championship in Tel Aviv, Israel, a gold at the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and a silver in Antalya, Turkey.

"This is a year of my dreams, I have won lots of medals and for some time, I was the first on the world ranking list. This is a great honor and I have to thank everyone who helped me to achieve this result," Ceric said.

In the men's senior category, Ivan Klepic and Mesud Pezer won the award. Klepic, 23, karate player, clinched the gold at the European Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia in the category of over 84 kilograms.

A 24-year-old shot putter, Pezer broke the 33-year-old national record when he made a throw of 21.43 meters.

BiH's Olympic Committee awarded the country's national football team for achieving a prominent score by entering the Group A of UEFA Nations League without defeat.
