TOKYO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as SoftBank Group Corp.'s subpar mobile phone unit debut dragged down the broader market.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 127.53 points, or 0.60 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 20,987.92.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.36 points, or 0.41 percent, to finish at 1,556.15.
Mining, electric power and gas, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
