MOSCOW, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said Wednesday that it has killed a group of Islamic State (IS) terrorists in the city of Stavropol in North Caucasus.
The armed militants put up a resistance to FSB officers during detention and were shot dead, an FSB statement said, adding that no FSB officers were hurt.
It said criminal proceedings were opened over possible preparations for a terrorist attack and illegal possession of firearms.
A separate statement from Governor of the Stavropol Region Vladimir Vladimirov said the group consisted of two people who were not residents of the region.
