JAKARTA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The anti-terror squad of Indonesian police arrested 21 terrorist suspects in various provinces in the past month ahead of the Christmas and New Year holiday season, Indonesian Police Chief General Tito Karnavian said on Wednesday.

The police chief said some of the suspects were members of the banned homegrown terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah.

"We will continue the (security) monitoring measures. Legal process against the arrested ones was underway at present," Tito said.

After extracting information from the arrested suspects, Tito said so far there has been no credible threat of terrorist attacks in the upcoming holiday season.

To ensure security of the holiday season, Indonesian police would deploy 94,946 personnel at worship places and public tourism spots in the annual "Operation Candle" from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 next year.

Extra security monitoring would be applied in 13 provinces identified as being prone to terror attacks. Surveillance would also be in place against terrorists' "sleeping cells" possibly planning for the attacks.
